| I'd suggest either Dunlendings (both armoured and wildman varieties), or using the profile for orcs to represent a barbarian-like tribe in the East (remember, the Easterlings weren't a unified nation and instead it was a slang term used by Gondorians for the peoples who lived East of them). |

| I'd say they have a very Dunlandish look about them, especially the chieftain. I dunno if that'll be any use for your WotR army, but I could really see them being anything else... the Men of Dunland are probably the most barbaric humans really. |

| That's true Raccy, but the celt minis have some which are bare chested, which seems a bit too barberic for Dunland to me, although they'd still work. That said, they could go for First or Second Age Dunlendings (or any First/Second Age evil men) |

| Like you said earlier the Banner Bearer could easily be painted Rohirric with a Rohan banner added but as for the cheiftain, definitely some kind of Dunlending or if you painted a greenish/bubonic skin an Orc of some description. |

| I like Jake's idea of an orc actually for the latter of the two minis. If you're handy with greenstuff you could add a bit on to contort the features so it looks more orcish. |

| Alternatively, you could leave it as it is and call it a half-orc. |

| I really like the banner but i feel that the severed head is a bit too much. It also limits you to the Dunderling's unless you get rid of it. |

you raise a good point, and everyone i showed it to says the same, however. once painted orcishly (if you look its already battered) it will look great i am sure. |

| I like the unnamed, orc-statline, barbarians from the East idea. It would give some variety to a Mordor army |

| yeah, some great ideas. I have actually bought the celtic banner bearer from maelstrom for only £1.80!
I plan to cho off the boar, and add a banner and add the rohan horse, he would make a typical Rohan banner bearer. Yes i see the head, but as i said - once painted green like an orc, it will look brilliant! |

| You could leave the boar on. The Rohiric King Folca is best known for hunting down and killing the boar of Everholt, albiet dying of tusk-wounds soon after. The banner bearer could be used to represent his son Folcwine's personal standard, or the standard of one of the nobels that helped him hunt the boar down. |

| wow, that sounds really good. Once i have added a rohan flag though, the top part may look odd. although i will see what looks best. thanks for that. |

| definately, i am just struggling to find a suitable one. since the spear doesn't come attactched, i might not attach the shield and put a longer pike through his hand, thus have some men at arms of dol armoth perhaps.. |

| A little update. The cloak is complete ( I am quite pleased with this as I used NO washes AT ALL, just a bit of dark angels green and water in the deep reccesses where the tones weren't at the smoothest), but the severed head, gold and banner is not complete, so don't comment on that, just the cloak please. thanks James |

| Hey cloak's looking great. What did you highlight it with? Struggling a bit with my Ranger cloaks, so advice would be appreciated. |

| Hi Cal585.
really glad you like it.
This is roughly it:
-dark angels basecoat
-dark angels + bronzed flesh (and water) for a 1st highlight, keep this pretty vague, not exact highlight.
-dark angels + skull white (and water) for the 2nd highlight, this should be a little more exact that the 1st one.
-dark angels green (and water) 'wash' over the cloak, keep this thin though.....
-catachan green and water. just added to certain areas where the cloak is seen more (i.e. not in the very deep reccesses).
thanks
James |
