| I know the series isn't everyone's (or perhaps, everyone's hardrives') cup of tea but I'm a big fan of the whole series. I just thought I'd ask whether anyone esle has/plays any Total War games and if anyone plays online at all?
My favourite at the moment is Empire although to play it properly I really need a new computer. Medieval 2 was the first TW game I bought and one that I think as a really great 'feel' to it, particularly the Kingdoms expansion. Rome is the game I'm currently playing the most right now .
I'm also shopping around for decent mods for Rome and Medieval 2 at the moment so if anyone knows of any good looking ones... |

| I own the first three TW games, plus their expansions, although I've only got around to playing Rome and it's expansions. Not too fussed on Barbarian Invasion as I find your 'empire' starts collapsing after a few turns for no aparent reason unlike in the normal Rome. Rome is a very fun game and I have a few fond memories of it such as where in campaign mode I once managed to push the British out of Britain and wiped them out where modern Russia is, or the time I was besieging a town, the defenders sallied forth and I managed to send cavalry into the town, locking most of the defenders outside |

| Lol. I remember once playing as Hungary on Medieval II my army was close enough to a besiging force of my allies, the Byzantines, to reinforce them so to strengthen diplomatic relations I lent a hand. However, by the time my army had marched accross to the Byzantine side of the map on the other side of the city their entire army had routed. Luckily, they had managed to breach the walls so I proceded to take the city on my own. After the battle the city was awarded to....the Byzantines....and I think they declared war on me a few turns later.... That was pretty funny.
I've got a few horror stories as well, like the time a glitch caused a Greek army to somehow sneek into my city, kick my Roman garrison out and then attack me in the field. I had some Roman Cavalry and some Town Watch against his army of Hoplite Infantry, Greek Cavalry, Archers and some artillery and although I would have felt fairly confindent defending a the city I knew I had no chance in a pitched battle. But, with some obbsessive use of the pause button I somehow managed to win with only one unit of cavalry remaining. Suddenly, the game crashed to desktop....gah....
I actually really enjoyed the BI expansion of Rome - the units are better balanced and a few tweeks to the campaign improves tha gameplay a lot. Horde armies were a neat adition too. I certainly found the campaign more challenging, particularly as the Western Empire which I have yet to complete the campaign as.
Alexander is more scripted which puts some people off - you'll find yourself pushed to expand as quickly as the campaign demands - but its great fun defeating massed army after massed army of Persians, makes you feel almost like Alexander himself.
Do either of you guys play online at all? I've just recently started on Rome and it a great experience playing aginst actual human opponents. |

| it have had mostly fun moments(Becuase i'm a pu##y and play on easy) and i wonce took out a army of 1,000+ without taking a single casulaty. I got really lucky with my Orgner. Also just today i kicked out a roman army of atleast 1,200 who assulted my castle while i had some really weak men and only numbering about 60. I somehow won with only 7 men left, My general + mr lucky in his unit and 5 skermishers who somehow managed to over power romans in a fiar fight.
I don't play online on the computer but i do on my DS and my xbox |

| I love sieges on easy - just send out some light cav and see how long you can distract their seige equipment carrying units for. When I get down to less than a dozen men I start naming them.... Its the best part of the game Shame...well if either of you ever feel like a game you know where I am |
