Figured I'd begin posting a few blogs on the design of the various realms and armies of the Wolf Lands as featured in The Shadow of the Dog Lord Roleplaying Adventure Game.

I intend on releasing a book called "The Crafting of the Shadow of the Dog Lord", which will be a collection of drawings that cumulate into the final result you'll see in print.

But until then, this will do just fine. Here we go:

Designing the Wolf Lands: The Wolf Empire of Tar-Koldor Tar-koldorarmourconcept2

A black and white study of a soldier from Tar-Koldor. These lads are heavily inspired by the look of Spanish conquistadors and other Mediterranean cultures circa 15th-16th century due to their seafaring conquest.

And a colour version.

Designing the Wolf Lands: The Wolf Empire of Tar-Koldor Tar-koldorweapons

A couple of weapons. Archers will have crossbows which can be reloaded quite rapidly and drawn back by hand (they may not shoot as quickly, but they're more accurate, which is what really counts) and rapiers for the officers.

Designing the Wolf Lands: The Wolf Empire of Tar-Koldor Tar-koldorarmourstudy

Pencil sketch of an officer's uniform. Note that the dark bits on his feet are not "emo leg warmers" as Dinadan thinks but an anthro version of leather boots.

Designing the Wolf Lands: The Wolf Empire of Tar-Koldor Romulusofdar-koldor

And a colour version of that same uniform.

Enjoy, and more will come as I draw them Smile

I use Copic Sketch Markers and Prismacolor markers.

Laughing at jaws: yeah, it's a cheat to make sure I don't have to symetirically draw their head...plus they look more like wolves when you see all their snout Razz
