| Ok - so I'm planning on doing a 1200pt Rohan/Lothlorien army for the 2010 'Build Me an Army' comp. 1200pts is pretty epic so I want a suitable Hero to lead it and although I could take Celeborn I'd rather its was a Hero of Rohan - trouble being that they don't really have any...
Anyway, I've always had a qualm about Eomer's current profile and how it doesn't match up to his description in the books so I thought I'd create my own Eomer and use that profile. If you like, this could represent him after he's been crowned King, but I prefer the idea of him always having been at this sort of level.
Eomer, Marshall of the Riddermark: 130pts
F - 6/4+ S - 4 D - 6 A - 3 W - 3 C - 6 m - 3 w - 3 f - 3
Eomer wears heavy armour and carries Guthwine, a hand weapon. At additional cost he may be given the following:
- Horse - 10pts - Throwing weapons - 5pts - Shield - 5pts
Special Rules: Marshall of Rohan: Eomer is a skilled and valiant warrior and an inspiring leader to the soldiers of the Mark. All warriors from the Kingdom of Rohan gain a +1 bonus to their fight value if they are within 3" of Eomer. Horse-lord: Eomer is a horseman beyond peer and has fought fought and led from horseback for many years. While mounted, Eomer's Stand Fast! is increased to 12". This will return to 6" if if is thrown or dismounts. Expert Rider:
Stilll worth 130pts? Or is two extra special rules too much?

| Looks like a good profile all in all though maybe the 12" extension of Eomers special rule when in combat is taking it too far for 130 points? Perhaps you could replace the 12" bonus when in combat to something like instead of having a 6" standfast he has a 12" standfast. By all means keep the 3" +1 fight value bonus though, I think that's a great addition. Sure thing about using it in the Build Me an Army Worthy Of competition . |

| Cheers.
I included the 'increases to 12" when in combat' to show - firstly that Eomer is a fighter and to encourage the player to use him as thus, and seconmdly because he will often be mounted and so I felt 12" would be a more appropriate distance. I was concerned that it would be to much at 130pts though...
Increasing Stand Fast when in combat? I'm not keen on his Stand fast wavering between two distances - particularly as it could lead to a senario where, in killing all his opponents Eomer encourages some of his men to run away...
I could always increase his stand fast when mounted, because of his joy of fighting in the saddle - and the fact that he can be seen better.
I do a quick edit - see what you think. |

| No with the standfast I don't mean increase it to 12" when in combat I mean just increasing it to 12" in general (in the same way that Gothmogs standfast is 12"). The way I figure it, if Gothmog has that effect, Eomer definitely should as he is the Gothmog of Rohan. |

| Ah - sorry. Hmm...well, do you think the '12" Stand Fast while mounted' in combination with the 3" Fv bonus is good?
Personally I see him as being more of a 'fighter' than a 'leader', bluntly put, than say Imrahil - whose profile I'm effectively baseing this off. Were I redoing all of Rohan's Heroes I'd be making Theoden a more leadership-orientated Hero so I'm reluctant to go too strongly along those lines with Eomer.
I think Gothmog's profile got some special treatment from GW - simply because evil needed a Hero that could at least stand up to the likes of Boromir and at the time - it didn't - bar Sauron. So I shy away from using Gothmog as an example when comparing profiles. |

| That sounds like a good idea, another way of showing his expertness of riding a horse (don't forget his Expert Rider special rule). |
