I'd say yes. Painting cmps can be fun, although it does require several entrants - if there's only one or two, then it's not fun.
As for entering, it'd depend on the theme. Speaking for myself, I haven't really got the option of going out to buy something new for a comp at the moment, so I'd be restricted by what I've got. A broad categorey would be best.

i say yes but i knwo that i will suck at it. Any modal that i "could" enter has all ready been painted. For example my Eldar Farseer and one of my Sons of Eorl are probbly my best painted but would be dwarfed by almost anyone else here.

I'd be interested...increased work loads and stress have made my desire for painting non-existent, but I could muster the strength for oe model I think

I think it should be more broad too. Our only successful one was the Single Miniature competition which got 7 entrants.
