WD368 - Daemons Empty
PostSubject: WD368 - Daemons   WD368 - Daemons EmptyTue Jul 27, 2010 4:26 am

Ok so back to normal this month with the reviews....sort of, but I’ll get to that during the review.

So the new releases this month are mostly daemons. First the Daemon Prince for use in WOC, CSM and Chaos Daemons and I have to say I love the kit having seen the kit being made at my local. Next we have the Bloodcrushers of Throne where are great as well. It says that they are backwards compatible with the Bloodletters for more conversions which is nice, along with the next one, the Seekers of Spanish which are fantastic. We also have the pink Horrors....which are pink.....and horrific modals! (Lol poor pun) We also have a few metals with Kairos Fateweaver who is fantastic looking and the Changling who I have to admit that I’m Meh with.
Outside of the Daemons release we have some magic cards for Fantasy for all the Gods (except Khorne as they don’t have any magic). Also a “The Armour of Contempt” which fetchers 1 each of the old modals devoted to each god. We also have a Familiar pack which contains all 8 familiars for £8! GW having good prices! The Apocalypse is coming!! We also have the new Tau Battlesuits from Force world along with Shas’o R’Alai whose rules you can download for free from the Force World website here http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Downloads/Product/PDF/s/comralai.pdf.

Articles this month’s are very much about Daemons, and here is where I say they are sort of back to normal. Despite Daemons being both 40k and Fantasy at least 2/3rd of the daemons stuff is fantasy, which is to be expected due to the new set of rules but as anyone who knows me will know that I don’t know much about Fantasy so with any fantasy focused issues it may be lacking somewhat so I must apologise for that in advanced.
Of course we have a large 12 page section on the new daemons as they have to cover both systems followed by another 12 pages of tactica! Oh and 2 pages advertising over half the new range plus a few other daemon stuff. Thank you White Dwarf. I started to believe you actually cared again.
We also have a tactica for WOTR (the SBG get no love anymore) on using Epic heroes saying who is bad ass and who isn’t....yet Dain isn’t in there? We also have a bit of fluff on the where the daemons came from etc as well as a look into magic such as Bright, Amber, Gold, Light, jade etc.
And the tradisonal Battle report and fresh on the heels of Fantasy’s new rules we have another fantasy battle report. This one is Dark Eldar Vs.........Lizardmen! Naw it’s daemons but as long as you have a higher IQ count than Tommy Wiseau then you would have figured it out. It’s a pritty standard battle from what I can see of it.
Also since we need more daemon stuff to pad out the mag we have a terrain workshop showing you how awesome Daemon terrain could be if you where one of the GW team as they tell you what they did to make the awesome terrain but not really a step by step on how you could make it....because them you can charge you £20 for the same thing a few years later. We also have a painting workshop on the Daemon prince as well as how to get “fades” into your modals.

As for next month it’s being very cryptic. All that being said in it is that next month we get “The Island of Blood” which is a newer version of the battle of Skull pass with High Elves Vs Scaven. *cries at the fact that there are no Lizardmen* the rest is just a guess but I feel that well will have another Fantasy battle report next issue.

Anyway, my recommendations. This issue can probably be missed by LOTR players however it’s hard to say for the others. For Fantasy then I wouldn’t see why not but unless you play with or against Daemons allot then you can probably miss this one if you’re a 40k player.
On a slight side not before I finish. This review will be a first in 2 ways. The first is that I want your feed back to make this better and also I have started writing this up in a word prosseser to minimise Spelling/grammar mistakes (Finally I hear you cry). Also its starts the Compatision. At the end of each review I will post 1 word in Red. You must then go though the review and find how many times I say that word. The first to get the right answer gets +1 Rep and a mention in next month’s review....providing I remember. (You were expecting cake? Well it’s a lie!). Anyway that concludes this month’s review and I hope to keep doing these reviews for everyone who doesn’t subscribe and/or is a passion not to be able to get them easily.

This month’s word is Daemons

I'd suggest doing a very breif summary of each issue at the start of your reviews - just in bullet points or keywords to provide a general overview each month. That way people can more easily pick out areas of particular interest to them in your more detailed review.

As for the comp; I make it 10 if you're stictly asking for the plural, 14 if you're looking for any variation on the word.
