Today sees the release of the new Awards system!

This is a nice little way of rewarding those who give to the website. They will be awarded for things such as; writing articles, winning competitions or winning categories in the MoMe Awards.

That's all I can think of awarding awards for at the moment but I have a tonne of images for awards that I haven't anything for yet, so below I will show current awards and their icons, as well as the icons I have left so members can suggest awards to link them with.


- Article Writer - Awarded to those who have devoted their time to write an article for the website.

- MoMe Award Winner - Awarded to category winners of the MoMe Awards (hover over the users award to see what category it was awarded for).

- Competition Winner - Awarded to those who win official MoMe Competitions (such as the current Single Miniature Painting Competition, again you will be able to see which competition the user won the award for by hovering over the award).

- Token of Appreciation - A special award from the owner of MoMe to those he feels have worked above and beyond that expected of them to promote positive experiences around the website.

- Donor - Awarded to those who donate money to the website.

- Mutliple Time Donor - Awarded to those who donate money to the website on more than one occasion.

- Faithful Financial Contributor - Awarded to those who have donated money to the website on several occasions.

- Parchment of Knowledge - Rewarded to those who post consistently high quality posts with exceptional knowledge in certain areas.

- One That Sees From Afar - Awarded for bringing an exceptional amount of news and rumours of new releases to the members of MoMe.




Remaining icons:

Hmm, for the parchment and quill one, how about something like an award for people who regularly give out good advice?

Not sure about the bow and quiver one. Or the...what is that green thing?

As for the Palantir, maybe something related to News?

Good idea for the parchment and palantir. The green one is supposed to be lembas bread lol.

LEmbas bread? hmm, then maybe an award for best cook?

Being serious - how about making it a supporter award? i.e. 'As Lembas sustained the fellowship, so to do these members sustain our site'

Hmm not sure really, there's the Donor Award for those who donate money to sustain the site and then there's the One Ring award for those who support the site in other ways (such as Raccy on the technical side of things).

Hmm, good point.


Just thought about something else - how about 'tiered' awards. I.e. once a person gets say 5 of one award it gets upgraded to the next level? e.g. the donner one could be a chest of broze for first time donors, then get upgraded to silver then to gold as they donate more.

Hmm very interesting.

I don't really plan on awarded multiple awards of one type (ie. if you write 3 articles, you'll still only have one award icon) but I like the idea of doing different image colours.

I'll work on them for other awards that can work like that (ie. dull coloured book for one time article writer, at 5 articles you get the colour we currently have etc.)

I'm liking the icons a lot guys, excellent idea! On the subject of such matters, if there's an icon you think would be good to have for something but you don't have an image for, I'd be happy to try and source/design one (depending on the complexity )

Just a quick question - are you still able to view and use the staff forum? I think I might have accidentally stopped you from doing so in updating your group info with your new colour . So if you can't I'll fix it asap.

Yeah, I was gonna ask you about that actually... I love the snazzy new colour, but I can't do any normal mod stuff or access the staff forum!

I must say, these icons are very nice. Thinking long term though, if there's another MoME awards in the future, will the winners of that replace the winners of the last one or will they be added together?
