Anyone seen this yet? Went to see this earlier and was a bit disapointed. Although that could be because I've read some of the GL comics rather than it actually being a bad film (in fact it was okay as sci-fi/superhero films go - not brilliant but not bad either)

I haven't seen it and being a Marvel fan i'm unliekly too (that and i still bitter as Ryan Reynalds was suppoesed to do a Deapool moive bofore he signed on for Green Lantern). Anyway from what i have herd it had good charatures and a few good changes, without giving many spoilers away they changed for form of Paralx from the comic. It just seems to be meh from what i have herd but the villan is supposed to be great along the lines of Loki from the Thor moive

Fortunately for me I have not read any of the comics, so I got to enjoy a well done film without any of it being ruined due to not following the comics. I enjoyed Green Lantern, good film!

I wouldn't neccessarily say they were good changes, but then again, the GL comics I've read are fairly recent and the origin story comic I've read (Secret Origin) is itself a retcon so is a change in and of itself For those who don't know the changes made (or rather the changes I noticed) are as follows: - Spoiler:
Hal is a completely different person - in the comics I've read there's none of this "I'm only human" attitude from him; he's arrogant and cocky in the comics and thinks nothing of talking back, and to be honest, I find him more likable that way rather than the film's version who acknowledges he's flawed.
Hammond is also a completely different person to the comic version - the film made him sympathetic, whereas in the comic he's a complete jerk and has no connection to Parallax.
And speaking of Parallax, it has been radically altered to. Instead of a corrupted Guardian like the film has it, in the comics Parallax is fear. I don't mean it's scary, I mean it literally is fear itself - as in the saying "There's nothing to fear but fear itself".
The plot is fairly different to that of Secret Origin, but I'd say that it's understandable as Secret Origin is designed to work as a prelude to Blackest Night (that is the antagonist of Secret Origin is motivated by trying to stop Blackest Night and becomes a major player in the War of Light.), and to be fair to the film makers, they probably weren't sure if they'd get a chance to do sequals, so probably decided laying the ground work for sequals would be a waste of time (that said, they did put a sequal hook in mid-credits with Sinestro), plus to do BN effectively, you'd also have to do the Sinestro Corps War and possibly Final Crisis (the latter needed to explain what Batman is doing dead in BN).
Minor changes also include Hammond knowing Hal (in the comic they don't meet until after Hal becomes Green Lantern), Carl Ferris being well (in the comic he's comatose and Hal blames him for the death of Hal's dad, and part of Hal's growing up is when he goes to confront Ferris (not knowing he's ill) and realises how his anger has been screwing things up), Hammond's job (in the comic he's a physicist, not a xenobiologist), how Hammond gains his powers (in the comic Hammond get's his powers when he opens up the reactor core of Abin Sur's ship and it blows up in his face) and Hammond's link to Parallax (in the comic there's no link between them).
