I have managed to get hold of some coding for a new shoutbox and added it to the right hand side of the forum.

I never like the old chatbox and I know a couple of people share the same feelings, so I hope the new one is better for you, I know I prefer it. It doesn't chuck you off, it's quick and simple, it looks nicer etc.

Let me know what you all think.

Note - I am not on a premium account for this new shoutbox yet, so the character limit is 150 and there is a maximum of 60 posts per hour.

However, if you like the new one, I can purchase a premium account so that the character limit will be double the size and it will allow an unlimited amount of posts per hour, as well as allowing us all to register our names to the shoutbox (as at the moment, you jus type your name, so anyone can pretend to be you, whereas with a premium account I can set it up so that you can all register your name with password protection in case some tool joins wanting to be a twat).

I think it's mainly the position of it that puts me off. The old one is at the bottom of the page with plenty of room whereas the new one is cramed in at the side. The other advantage of the old one is that by being at the bottom, it's near the post stats, so you can be logged in chatting with someone and can periodically hit refresh to see if any new posts have been made, whereas the new one positioned halfway down means you'd need to refresh and scroll up and down to check for new posts.

I see your point. I was just testing with it at the side like the shoutbox that used to be on One Ring. Unfortunately I can't get the new one to be on the bottom, so we'll just stick with the old chatbox.

We could keep both - there'd be no harm in it, plus, if it's really busy one day, then some people can go on one and the others on the other so that their conversations don't get mixed up.

Besides the chatbox would be much better at coping with a lot of people.

I like it personally - never been a fan of having it at the bottom. It always seemed too much effort to get to and then I'd forget to keep checking it.
