Hi all
This is the 4th forum site i've joined, including the poor old TLA. Ive played LOTR for 7 odd years and am not really that fond of WOTR, however i am willing to help people and attempts to convert me to liking WOTR.

Don't worry about not being too into War of the Ring, I'm not going to try and convert you towards it either as I'm not a fan of it myself Razz

Haven't even played WotR myself, or understood its rules, though it's definitely something I'm interested in in the future.

Sure is different, the gameplay is completely different.

I say I'm not a fan of WOTR, but truth be, I'm kind of a fence sitter to be honest. I've played games that I've hated, and I've played games that I've loved. It really is an odd one Neutral

my main problem is the concept. LOTR was based as a skirmish game and well thats been thrown out the window with WOTR and the gameplay is quite flawed in some things so Evil or Very Mad

Indeed, there are a lot of rules that weren't thought through very well aswell.

Thats an understatment :lol!: there are quite a few inheritly flawed rules. such as the might system and magic

That's true, magic is far too overpowered.

It's just silly that a ringwrait can cast up to 3 spells a turn and is relatively cheap where as in SBG he can cast half a dozen odd spells for the whole game and is relatively expensive. Its just not really very balanced.

And then you get rules that the character posses but doesnt pass onto his formation it's just :scratch:

The Wraith cost is even more rediculous when compare to the unnamed shamans in WotR. For only 25 extra points the Wraith nets you extra spells, the ability to cast two more spells a turn, higher fight value, Epic Strike, a nifty special rule, and the ability to move to another formation.

Oh I will someday. In the mean time it's too expensive when I still need to get SBG sorted out. Maybe once I've painted my models...
