If anyone's interested in the EIR period, then take a look at this month's Wargames Soldiers & Strategy. It contains an article on using the LotR SBG system for playing games based around the Judean uprising and has two scenarios which could be adapted for use with LotR stats.

No sorry, but if you go into WHSMiths you should find it in the same seciton as the history and model railway mags.
