So here's a Side-Project I've been working on for the last couple of weeks.

It's a commission piece for a local customer. It's my first commission work in a long while so hopefully he likes it.

Seeing as I haven't done much Gstuff work before other than filling in things and adding extra parts to a set of Balrog wings, I'm pretty pleased with how this turned out. I'm even contemplating making one for myself.

I've started work on the other Vanguards and have also started a second tactical squad. I'll get pictures up when I can but it's likely going to have to wait untill the weekend.

Hopefully this thread will be getting some updates soon as I've bought a couple of minis.

First mini is the Mad Puppet Miniatures Scavenger Leader. I bought this simply as a cool display piece and hopefully to practice painting skintones:



I also bought this rather nice display base for the scavenger leader to go on from Dark Art Miniatures (it's called the Urban Display Base). I thought it was a fitting base for such a mini as it looks like a destroyed urban wasteland, which is the kind of scenery I expect a Scavenger to be roaming (I was thinking along the lines of Raiders from the Fallout videogame):



The second mini I've bought is this incredibly nice 54mm Dwarf Chicken Slayer from Scibor Miniatures, again just as a display piece:



As I have no interest in gaming anymore, the majority of minis I buy from now on are probably going to be from various non-GW companies that I think look cool for painting projects.

As much as I wish they were, they're not my paintjobs. They're just the images of them on their websites that I've posted here to show you guys what I've bought, seeing as not many people will have heard of them.

this lovely mini turned up today and I thought I'd share with you some pictures. I haven't started prepping it for painting yet (cleaning and preperation is tonight and tomorrows job).

Here is a picture of it straight out of the box, followed by a size comparison picture of the Dwarf next to an Aragorn mini:





I just love the detail on this mini, and the quality of the cast is much higher than expected, so I can't wait to get the painting underway.

Plus, the base is amazing.

Looks like it could make a great ogre if you wanted to use it in a game of something or other.

I've started work on painting the skin. All that's been done so far is a dwarf flesh basecoat and a wash watered down Brown Ink and PVA glue. I'm worried I may not have watered down the wash enough as it's kept some of its glossy sheen, however after my first highlights on the main area of the torso and the face (which you can also see in the following picture as I wanted to check the shine wasn't noticeable in the recesses) I don't think it will be too much of a problem, especially after a matt dullcote finish at the end.

Please let me know what you think so far after my first highlight (of the highlighted areas, I haven't finished the rest of the skin yet)

Nice work on the Chicken Slayer. Interesting title that. He looks quite intimidating.

Just recieved these Fallout minis through the post from Brother Vinnis Miniatures, a Brotherhood of Steel Knight and an Enclave Soldier:




Will get to painting them after my current LOTR stuff. I recommend them to anyone (especially those who are fans of the video game).
