| Which book of LotR is your favourite?
Only posted them as their whole books rather than 'Book 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6'. Sso it's what is your overall favourite basically. |

| Return of the King definately! That battles were quick and exciting as Tolkien's usually are, and the descriptions of Gondor (and the defeat of Sauron) were just amazing |

| It's hard not to vote for RotK since it is by far the most action-packed. Still, there's something to say for that winding exposition in FotR--especially the gruesome barrow wights and the cheerily mysterious Tom Bombadil. |

| I voted for the Return of the King because of the amazing suspense that builds throughout the book and how the book ends, just amazing... |

| I'm afraid I can't choose between the three - all of them have their distinct strong points but I haven't read them recently enough to make such a decision...
Tolkien never meant for them to be split up anyways...please don't make me choose... |

| I see I'm the only one whose gone for The Two Towers so far. I was intruiged by Saruman's betrayal and how he went about setting up his own kingdom. His power and ambition rivalling Mordor and on the ascent and his powerful sorceries. It was also at the point where the storyline had fully launched and I was immersed in the world. FotR started out fairly slow, and RotK ended slowly (stopped reading it the first time and had to go back later). |

| I found the same thing actually Cal - its not written at like your standard fantasy novel. Still, there were aspects of FotR and RotK that keep them as contenders for the title off 'favourite' book - at least for me. |

Considering it was one of the first fantasy novels (unless you count myth, ledgends, religous texts[depending on your point of view], etc), surely it is written like your standard fantasy novel and its the bulk of other fantasy novels that aren't written like the standard? |
